Survey of glyphosate- and dicamba-resistant kochia (<i>Bassia scoparia</i>) in Saskatchewan

چکیده
Kochia ( Bassia scoparia (L.) A.J. Scott) is a problematic tumbleweed, which infests row crops and ruderal areas within western Canada. Herbicide resistance makes kochia management challenging for producers. Widespread to acetolactate synthase-inhibitors, evolution spread of glyphosate resistance, the occurrence dicamba has been previously noted in Saskatchewan. This study's objective was evaluate distribution glyphosate- dicamba-resistant central southern A randomized, stratified survey conducted fall 2019 at 303 sites. Rotational history obtained using Agriculture Agri-Food Canada Annual Crop Inventory. samples were collected from cropped fields (78%), ditches (17%), oil well sites (2%), railway grades (3%). Glyphosate detected 87% n = 275) 137 Rural Municipalities (RMs). Dicamba 45% 255) 87 RMs. Crops infested with herbicide-resistant included wheat Triticum aestivum L. T. durum Desf.), canola Brassica napus L.), lentils Lens culinaris Medik.), barley Hordeum vulgare flax Linum usitatissimum peas Pisum sativum L.). Reducing soil seedbank preventing dispersal will be critical mitigating resistance. Good herbicide stewardship including mixing multiple modes action paramount. Cultural strategies increase canopy closure crop competitiveness limit biomass seed production are recommended. occupies many environments outside fields, community-wide approach may necessary reduce potential tumbling plants that disperse seed.

Differences in Germination, Growth, and Fecundity Characteristics of Dicamba-Fluroxypyr-Resistant and Susceptible Kochia scoparia
The widespread occurrence of herbicide-resistant (HR) Kochia scoparia is an increasing concern for growers in the US Great Plains and Canada. K. scoparia populations resistant to dicamba have been reported in six US states. Populations cross-resistant to dicamba and fluroxypyr have been reported from wheat fields in Montana, USA. It is unclear whether resistance to the auxinic herbicides (dicam...

Evolution of glyphosate-resistant kochia is a threat to no-till wheat-fallow and glyphosate-resistant (GR) cropping systems of the US Great Plains. The EPSPS (5-enol-pyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase) gene amplification confers glyphosate resistance in the tested Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad populations from Montana. Experiments were conducted in spring to fall 2014 (run 1) and summer 2014 t...
متن کاملFitness Outcomes Related to Glyphosate Resistance in Kochia (Kochia scoparia): What Life History Stage to Examine?
A fast-spreading weed, kochia (Kochia scoparia), has developed resistance to the widely-used herbicide, glyphosate. Understanding the relationship between the occurrence of glyphosate resistance caused by multiple EPSPS gene copies and kochia fitness may suggest a more effective way of controlling kochia. A study was conducted to assess fitness cost of glyphosate resistance compared to suscepti...
